The L.F.K. Biotechnology complex contains a 1400 sq. m. greenhouse and approximately 925 sq. m. of office space. MacPherson Engineering provided engineering services for the lab renovation to support plant based research. The ventilation system was upgraded to eliminate recirculated air within the facility.
Mechanical System Description
A new air handler was installed to replace the existing mixed air units. The air handler provides dedicated outdoor air to fan coils and to terminal air boxes to provide lab containment, and general ventilation.
Innovative & Sustainable Design
The air handler is designed to preheat the air with chilled water from the energy centre during the heating season. A heat reclaim wheel is used to recover exhaust air energy in addition to this.
