This kindergarten to grade 8 elementary school and daycare is designed to preserve the century old architecture of the existing Connaught Elementary School, while also modernizing the space with large gathering areas, flexible learning space and plenty of natural sunlight. In addition, this new school houses a community centre with gymnasium, and amphitheatre.
École Connaught Community School utilizes a DOAS, an outdoor HRV unit, and an indoor HRV unit to provide ventilation to each zone. The facility is equipped with a radiant in-floor heating and cooling system. The heating system is serviced by high-efficiency condensing boilers with primary and secondary pumping for a high temperature loop and a low temperature loop. The cooling is serviced by a dual temperature chilled water system that supplies warmer chilled water to the in-floor cooling and colder chilled water to the air-handler cooling coils. The daycare utilizes a second system including DX fan-coil units and roof-top condensing units for each zone.
LEED certification still pending (late application); in floor cooling, low-flow plumbing fixtures, high efficient boiler plant. Energy model better than MNECB by XX%.
Targeting LEED Gold certification.
Regina’s École Connaught Community School won an international Award for Planning Excellence at the 2019 Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) Resolution’s Conference in Anaheim (NumberTen).
