MacPherson Engineering provided full mechanical system engineering services for this project. The high-performance exterior building envelope allowed our firm to delete an entire perimeter radiant panel heating system from this facility while still maintaining ASHRAE & CSA mandated comfort standards. This reduced the overall mechanical cost by close to $2,000,000. That’s the true spirit of the integrated design process!
This new 15,000 sq. m. hospital provides health care services to the residents of the Cypress Health Region. This hospital provides services including ambulatory care, general surgery, intensive care, sterile processing and more. The MacPherson Engineering design for the project improved the energy efficiency of the building and reduced its operational costs.
Mechanical System Description
The primary systems include a dual-duct constant volume HVAC system with a hybrid condensing boiler plant, exhaust air heat recovery, HEPA operating theatre filtration systems, low-flow plumbing fixtures and variable flow heating & chilled water pumping. The systems are designed to the requirements of CSA Z317.2.
Innovative & Sustainable Design
The Cypress Regional Hospital exceeded the MNECB energy requirement by 37%. As a result, the Health District received the full $60,000 Federal Government CBIP Grant.
